Dynamic instrumentation and seismic monitoring
What you will learn
The course provides a comprehensive and practical overview of components, selection criteria, and verification and maintenance procedures, promoting informed and technically correct use of instrumentation in operational settings.
-
Module 1: Dynamic acquisition units and recording system architecture
The first module introduces the hardware architecture of dynamic data acquisition units, analysing their main components and technical specifications. -
Module 2: Seismic sensors (seismometers)
The second module explores the technologies underpinning velocity sensors, focusing on short-period, broadband, and borehole seismometers. -
Module 3: Seismic sensors (accelerometers)
The third module is dedicated to accelerometers, with a comparative analysis of the main available technologies: MEMS, IEPE, and Force Balance. -
Module 4: In-person practical session at Solgeo
The fourth module, entirely hands-on, will take place at the Solgeo headquarters and will be dedicated to direct inspection and practical work with the instrumentation.
